Dr. Vaibhav Jayesh Bhastana is a dedicated Interventional & Structural Cardiologist with over 10+ years of experience in the field of cardiology. He specializes in complex coronary angioplasties and structural cardiological interventions, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care.
Dr. Bhastana completed his MBBS at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai, from 2010 to 2016, where he was trained in all fundamental aspects of medical sciences and patient care.
He pursued his MD in Medicine at Topiwala National MedicalCollege and Nair Hospital, Mumbai, from 2016 to 2019. During this residency, he was trained in managing both elective and emergency cases in Internal Medicine, including Infectious Diseases, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, and Intensive Care.
He then completed his DM in Cardiology at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital, Mumbai, from 2019 to 2022. During this period, he gained hands-on experience in performing various cardiology procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, and pacemaker implantation, as well as diagnosing and managing cardiac emergencies and heart failure.
From 2022 to 2023, Dr. Bhastana served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology at Nair Hospital, Mumbai. In this academic role, he was actively involved in training cardiology residents while also performing high-volume angioplasties.
In 2024, he pursued a Fellowship in Interventional and Complex Coronary Angioplasties at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, where he received specialized training in advanced coronary procedures, including imaging-guided angioplasties, rotational and orbital atherectomy, laser-assisted angioplasty, intravascular lithotripsy, etc
In 2025 he completed a dedicated structural fellowship for 6 months in Istanbul, Turkey. During this fellowship, he was trained in advanced structural interventions such as TAVI/TAVR, TEER (MitraClip and TriClip), valve-invalve procedures, balloon mitral valvuloplasty, balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty, and caval valve implantation
Professional Achievements
- One of the very few cardiologists in India to have completed dedicated fellowships in both Interventional & Structural Cardiology.
- Successfully been part of more than 100 TAVI cases, with over 25 performed as a primary operator.
- Successfully been part of more than 50 MitraClip cases, with over 10 performed as a primary operator.
- Successfully performed over 2,000 angioplasties as a primary operator, including complex coronary angioplasties and primary angioplasties (PAMI).
- Successfully performed over 10,000 angiographies as a primary operator.
- Published research in prestigious international cardiology journals such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) and the European Heart Journal (EHJ).
